Reward Offered for Information Leading
to Arrest of "Boonie Hat Bandit"
John V. Gillies, Special Agent in Charge,
St. Louis
Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),
announced
that a bank robber targeting banks in the St. Louis
area, known
as the "Boonie Hat Bandit," is now believed
to be responsible for
11 bank robberies.
The "Bandit" is believed to have robbed the
Bank of
America, 2412 Taylor Road, Wildwood, at approximately
3 p.m. on
August 29, 2008. The "Bandit" fled the
bank on foot with an
undisclosed amount of cash.
The "Boonie Hat Bandit" is
further described as a white
male, approximately 6 feet tall, approximately 45
to 50 years
old. The "Bandit" wore a white dress shirt,
dark blazer, and eye
glasses. The suspect was nicknamed the "Boonie
Hat Bandit" due
to his use of a military style hat in two robberies,
commonly
called a boonie hat. Surveillance photographs of
the latest
robbery are attached to this release.
The FBI is offering
a $5,000.00 reward for information leading to the
arrest and conviction of this offender.
